Here's how you can make your contribution to history of photography. We're building an online reference to historic and vernacular (regional or period) photographers by collecting biographical information on historic photographers.
If you have information about a historic photographer, send it to us for inclusion in our biographical resource. We are especially interested in representative or images with artistic quality or fascinating subject matter along with details of the photographer's career. We are very interested in information on ordinary gallery photographers, so do not feel you have nothing to contribute if you lack information on "famous" photographers.
We can help promote your society's activities by building a page for each historic photographer in your locality. We're looking for photographs that are representative of a photographer's work to accompany their biography page (if no page exists, we can build a new bio page around a good photograph and some basic information on the photographer).
Before you sell that image why not contribute a scan? Private collector of images? Photographer in the family? We'd be glad to have biographical details and information about the photographer.
If you have an interesting image by a historic photographer or gallery operator, submit it for inclusion in our biographies. A link to your business, personal or organization web page or attribution to your collection will appear on the page beside the image (for example, City Gallery - Isaiah West Taber).
