Useless Things to Know About Me

What is city-gallery.com?

The site you are currently browsing is my personal site and is hosted on city-gallery.com and is the first website I created, own, operate and maintain. It went online in August of 1995 and would have gone online two months earlier had my hosting provider not forgot to activate my account (I was waiting for the check to clear so didn't know anything was wrong). city-gallery.com was originally hosted on the world's first commercial web hosting provider, Webcom (webcom.com). In those early days it was estimated that some 10% of total web traffic went through webcom hosted sites. Since about 1998 city-gallery.com is hosted at pair Networks web hosting. City Gallery has been in continuous operation since August of 1995 and got it's own domain about 1996.early 1997? if I remember, have to look up the records on that.

What websites do you operate?

Websites I am responsible for:

phphelp - Site devoted to helping PHP programmers.

city gallery - Old and family photos. I have not had much time for this site and doing genealogy lately.

fritz kirsch gallery - Period photographer and digital "folk artist" (or digital outsider art) Fritz Kirsch's web site. Sample the images of a leading civil war reenactment photographer (no current examples of folk art are up, but you can contact the artist).

whiteoak - Land grants and patents in Virginia's colonial Northern Neck.

knoblock - This site, my personal pages.

and a secret website, plus work on others on a contract basis.

What is the Knoblock Toaster?

See my page on the Knoblock Toaster.

Where and what is Brandymore Castle?

See my page on Brandymore Castle.

I have a painting by Mary Lander or biographical information on her, would you be interested?

Yes! I would love the information on Mary Lander, who was a woman painter in the American West in the late 19th century. She lived/painted in Col. in the 1880s. I might buy your painting (don't get excited, they are not worth a fortune).

What are my computers?

See my PC page.

What's your home theater setup like?

See my technoconfusion page for my audio and video equipment now and previous.

What was your first good camera?

Fuji ST-605 SLR 50mm lens/135mm tele. Favorite film back then: TriX and Fujicrome.

Got any pics?

See my album.

What is the logo on your site?

Line art from a photograph I made about 1977 of the Delaware Breakwater Light.

Why don't you have a domain for your own personal pages?

Well, I did, but never used it. I used to own knoblock.com until I let it lapse in 2002. By the way, I do have my own domain for hosting these pages, it's city-gallery.com and it's been on the web since August of 1995.

How can I contact you?

You can't thanks to SPAM messages.

Why can't I see some of the images on your site?

If you do not have a PNG capable browser, you're not allowed to look at my site.

I joined the original history of photography mailing list PHOTOHST on Wed, 2 Aug 1995 00:46:20. I can provide the email headers if you are interested.
