[Thought to be James W. Fuller].

[Thought to be James W. Fuller]. This relatively rare civil war image is thought to be of James W. Fuller as young man reading an issue of the Unionist newspaper Stars and Stripes. The citizens of DuQuoin contributed money and printing facilities to the ardently pro-Union publication. If it is James W. Fuller, he would be about age thirty-five.

Carte de visite on albumen paper, circa 1861, Imprint: Mangold's Photographic Gallery, DuQuoin, Illinois. [AJB:13]
